Tapology and FIM presents Rhythms of Resilience, Resistance, and Reclamation Concert celebrate cultural resilience; the event highlights preserving history and traditions through music, art, dance, and storytelling, showcasing the enduring spirit of identity through captivating expressions. This concert embarks on reclaiming diverse cultural narratives, resisting the erasure of untold histories, and embracing the significance of sharing lived experiences from the Americas and beyond. The Rhythms of Resilience, Resistance, and Reclamation concert will illuminate marginalized voices, challenge systemic inequalities, and revel in the rich tapestry of diverse cultural narratives.

This concert promises to invigorate and amaze. It features an electrifying collaboration of tap dancers and musicians. Experience the vibrant energy and profound connections as we delve into the pulsating rhythms of Jazz, Blues, Gospel, R&B, Hip Hop, Afro-Caribbean, and West African music and dance genres.

Rhythms of Resilience, Resistance, and Reclamation will feature special tributes to the 2024 Tapology Living Legend Karen Calloway-Williams. Attendees can look forward to live dance performances by Tapology’s beloved Youth Ensemble and some of tap’s most acclaimed artists, performers, and educators, including Tapology CEO Bruce Bradley, Artistic Director Frances Bradley, Associate Artistic Director Kandee Hogan, Living Legend Karen Calloway-Williams, and teaching and performing artists Alexandria “Brinae Ali” Bradley, Sarah Savelli, Maurice Chestnut, Michela Marino Lerman, Nico Rubio; and African percussionist Baba Kevin Collins, Sint Maarten Afro-Caribbean artist and griot Clara Reyes. Musical performances will feature African Drumming by Baba Kevin, Tapology Music Director Nick Rolfe, vocalist Cherisse Bradley and award-winning band members drummer Gayelynn McKinney, bassist Jonathon Muir-Cotton, saxophonist Alex Colista and guitarist Reichlin Small.

    Patrons will receive important information prior to events in the Know Before You Go email that is sent to all ticket holders. It includes last minute details on road closures, safety & security measures, and availability of services such as valet.   • Accessible Seating Areas

    Accessible seating is available and tickets must be purchased by phone or in person at FIM Ticket Center. Please inform the Patron Services Representative of any special needs you or your guests may have while purchasing tickets. Accessible seating is available for the patron and one companion.

  • Ticket Required to Enter

    All patrons regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the building.

  • No re-entry

    No Re-entry. Once your ticket has been scanned, please plan to stay and enjoy the entire performance. Patrons will not be allowed to re-enter.

  • Smoke/vape free zone

    Smoke-Free Zones. All FIM venues are smoke-free. Per Michigan Law, Public Act 188, smoking is not allowed inside a venue or within 20 feet from the entrance to the building. Violators will be asked to leave. Vape-Free Zones. Vaping is not allowed anywhere within the venue. Violators will be asked to leave.

  • Weapon free zone

    Weapon-Free Zones. Firearms and weapons of any kind, including concealed weapons and pocket knives are prohibited.

  • Assistive Listening Devices

    Assistive listening devices are available at no charge. These devices are available from the FIM Whiting Auditorium lobby desk. A driver’s license, state-issued ID card or another form of security deposit is required.

  • Familiarization Tours

    Familiarization tours are offered to all patrons. Take a tour of the seating area and facilities before purchasing tickets. Guided tours for the visually impaired are available by appointment. Contact FIM Ticket Center to schedule your tour.

  • Disruptive Patrons

    Disruptive patrons, regardless of age, will be asked to leave. No refunds will be given.

  • Childern & Families

    All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the venue. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, strollers and car seats are not allowed in the theatre. Regardless of age, disruptive patrons will be asked to leave. No refunds will be given.
