Theatre Instructor

About the Opportunity

The part-time FSPA Theatre Instructor reports to the FSPA Theatre Department Chair. The instructor will be responsible for working with a diverse group of children to adults from beginning to advanced levels. Instruction format may vary depending on current Michigan Department of Health and Human Service guidelines, but may include online, dual-format or in person settings.

Responsibilities and Qualifications


  • Perform theatre education programs as directed by the FSPA Theatre Department Chair.
  • Ensure preparation for the classes is done in a manner that exhibits success.
  • Ensure teaching records, forms, schedules and lesson are complete and return updated information when requested.
  • Collaborate with other instructors when needed or as directed by management.
  • Assist in grant reporting.
  • Serve as theatre education representative to internal and external meetings as requested.
  • Obtain professional development as requested.
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal and external patrons
  • Ability to maintain a calm and cheerful manner when under pressure
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree and related teaching experience, preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
