FIM Programming Statement
The Flint Institute of Music (FIM) is dedicated to presenting a broad spectrum of artistic works that reflect a wide range of perspectives, experiences and creative voices. FIM intentionally programs offerings that may explore complex, challenging or controversial themes.
The Institute recognizes that artistic expression may at times include material that some individuals find provocative, sensitive or outside their personal preferences. FIM affirms that the presentation of such works is a vital component of a vibrant and meaningful arts organization.
Programming decisions are made by FIM’s professional leadership and artistic staff. The viewpoints expressed in performances are those of the artists and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Flint Institute of Music, its Board of Trustees, staff, donors, sponsors or community partners.
FIM is committed to transparency and will make reasonable efforts to provide program descriptions and content information when appropriate, including age recommendations. Patrons are encouraged to review information at thefim.org or call the FIM Ticket Center prior to purchasing tickets in order to make informed decisions regarding attendance.
Attendance at any performance is a personal choice. By purchasing a ticket, patrons acknowledge the artistic content may vary in theme, style and subject matter and accept responsibility for determining what aligns with their individual beliefs/preferences.
