FSPA Administrative Assistant

General Description

Under the direction of the FSPA Administrative Director, the FSPA Administrative Assistant will support the Flint School of Performing Arts front office team in a variety of tasks while providing the utmost customer service to all.


  • Provide front-office communication with students, families, faculty, staff and the community through in-person, phone, email and other methods
  • Gather material, coordinate and work with others in the development of summer and school-year catalogs
  • Prepare for on-site visits from visiting ensembles
  • Assist in planning and coordination for auditions, concerts, fund-raising, student recognition and other special events
  • Gather and implement information for lesson requests, class registration, music and dance ensembles
  • Organize and format data collected for reports
  • Maintain instrument and music inventories
  • Process student account payments, online deposits and make trips to the bank as needed
  • Become knowledgeable of the software programs used for student accounts 
  • Attend and participate in meetings and work with other departments as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information
  • Assist with a wide range of administrative and office support activities
  • Other responsibilities as required


  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates Business Degree, preferred
  • Able to work well with students, faculty, staff and administration while providing exceptional customer service
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills
  • Display a self-motivated and positive attitude
  • Demonstrate good organizational, spelling and proofreading skills, be detail oriented, adaptable, flexible and able to work well in a busy office
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain and be responsible with confidential and sensitive information
  • Work proficiently in Microsoft Office and other current office software and technology
  • Two years of administrative assistance, preferred
