About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Producing Artistic Director of the Flint Repertory Theatre, the Assistant to the Producing Artistic Director will be responsible for general administrative support to the Producing Artistic Director as well and the production Department.

Specific Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Assist the Producing Artistic Director with all general administrative needs
  • Assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the office, including copying, filing, organizing, maintaining records, contacts, research, supplies
  • Help to manage Producing Artistic Director’s calendar with respect to meeting requests, rehearsal/reading/performance attendance, and other commitments
  • Organize and maintain scripts in library
  • Help to organize auditions, callbacks, meetings with designers
  • Track and organize artist resume and literary submissions
  • Assist in preparation for Opening nights and other events
  • Distribution of promotional materials to community partners and contacts
  • Organize and maintain database of artists
  • Assist with artists services as needed
  • Assist with administrative needs for Flint Rep Lab and Annual New Works Festival
  • Facilitate meetings with Producing Artistic Director and local area artistic directors, community organization leaders and potential donors to theatre
  • Mange all house seats requested through Producing Artistic Director’s office
  • Attends first rehearsal meetings of all productions
  • Attends Flint Rep staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent in experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours/days reflective of the dynamic schedule of a theatre, which includes a variety of
    hours including some evenings and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office
  • Ability to maintain a calm and cheerful manner when under pressure
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Cash handling experience highly desired
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • General theatre knowledge
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full Time, Non-Exempt
    • Starting at $15.00 per hour; compensation is commensurate to experience.
