About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Public Safety Manager, the Public Safety Supervisor is responsible for training and supervising the Public Safety Officer’s day to day functions. The Supervisor will also ensure safety of patrons and employees within the Flint Institute of Music building and the Flint Repertory Theatre.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Supervise Public Safety Officer’s day to day functions.
  • Assist in running training safety training courses as directed by the Public Safety
    Manager.
  • Conduct foot patrols of the buildings, ground and parking lots.
  • Conduct and supervise student/patron/staff entry process, using magnetometers and
    physical bag checks
  • Respond to patron requests, as needed
  • Be a first responder to any situation that would require security assistance
  • Ensure buildings are secure at all times
  • Monitor surveillance footage to verify there are no imminent threats
  • Maintain communication with campus security at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of security or public safety experience required.
  • Supervisor experience, a plus
  • CPL Certification, a plus
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift 25 lbs. minimally
  • CPR/First Aid Certification, a plus
  • Communication skills must be top notch
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm and cheerful manner when under pressure
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to walk for repeated periods of time
  • High school diploma required

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay Range: Starting at $15.00 per hour
  • Full Time – Exempt; must be available to be on call and work weekends, as needed.
