About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Public Safety Manager, the Public Safety Supervisor is responsible for training and supervising the Public Safety Officer’s day-to-day functions.  The Supervisor will also ensure the safety of patrons and employees within the Flint Institute of Music building and the Flint Repertory Theatre.

Specific Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Supervise Public Safety Officer’s day-to-day functions.
  • Assist in running safety training courses as directed by the Public Safety Manager.
  • Conduct foot patrols of the buildings, ground, and parking lots.
  • Conduct and supervise student/patron/staff entry process, using magnetometers and physical bag checks
  • Respond to patron requests, as needed
  • Be a first responder to any situation that would require security assistance
  • Ensure buildings are secure at all times
  • Monitor surveillance footage to verify there are no imminent threats
  • Maintain communication with campus security at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of security or public safety experience required.
  • Supervisor experience, a plus
  • CPL Certification, a plus
  • Must be organized and able to multitask
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift 25 lbs. minimally
  • CPR/First Aid Certification, a plus
  • Communication skills must be top-notch
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm and cheerful manner when under pressure
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to walk for repeated periods of time
  • High school diploma required

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay Range: Starting at $15.00 per hour
  • Full Time – Exempt; must be available to be on call and work weekends, as needed.
