About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the VP of Finance and Administration, the Maintenance and Special Projects Manager will manage the custodial contract, events and the maintenance teams as it relates to the FIM Whiting Auditorium, FIM Capitol Theatre, FIM Dort Music Center, FIM Elgood and Bower Theatres. In addition, this person will be responsible for all tracking of maintenance vendor contracts.

The position will start as an Assistant Maintenance Manager in training to become the Maintenance and Special Projects Manager. Pay will be tiered during the training. FIM’s current manager is retiring after 35+ years and will actively be training the new hire.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead all maintenance processes and operations.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the department.
  • Maintain all machinery to ensure it’s at working standards.
  • Update and implement maintenance guidelines are created and followed for all FIM buildings.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.
  • Manager vendor contracts.
    • Ensure work being done is of quality.
    • Plan and Manage work orders/quotes.
  • Manage internal work orders and set up needs for buildings as requested.
  • Collaborate with various program leads for special equipment needs.
  • Schedule maintenance and event team as needed.
  • Develop repair schedules and maintain them via Microsoft Office.
  • Ensure the department adheres to safety policies and procedures.
  • Hire, train and supervise the Maintenance and Event team.
  • Maintain inventory log of all items in the warehouses.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, required; College Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance; managerial experience, a plus.
  • Good understanding of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Strong knowledge of facility machines and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational experience.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with a focus on Excel and Word
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for long periods of time.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay Range: Starting at $42,000 (intro pay during training)
  • Full Time – Exempt; must be available to be on call and work weekends, as needed.
