About the Opportunity 

The Associate Producer is responsible for supporting the artistic, producing, and operational needs of FIM Flint Repertory Theatre. Working in close collaboration with the Producing Artistic Director, the Associate Producer serves as a producer and production manager for Flint Rep’s mainstage productions, special events, casting processes, and new work development programs. 

This position plays a key role in translating artistic vision into action by coordinating artists, creative teams, production personnel, schedules, marketing needs, and event logistics. The Associate Producer serves as the primary artistic lead on the annual New Works Festival and as Flint Rep’s primary staff liaison with FIM’s Marketing department. 

Specific Responsibilities and Qualifications 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• In close collaboration with the Producing Artistic Director, serve as a producer on all Flint Rep mainstage productions, coordinating needs across artistic, production, administrative, and marketing departments. 
• Coordinate artistic and production personnel by participating in the selection of creative teams, hiring local artistic and production staff, and supporting the successful execution of productions. 
• Oversee season casting and artist relations, coordinating auditions, union requirements, casting processes, and relationships with local, regional, and national artists. 
• Lead the annual Flint Rep New Works Festival, including artistic curation, programming, artist coordination, and production, while supporting the broader development of new plays and musicals. 
• Produce Flint Rep special events and support FIM-wide events, including fundraisers, donor and community events, holiday programming, season reveals, and other collaborative initiatives. 
• Coordinate the scheduling and use of Flint Rep’s performance spaces, helping oversee usage and day-to-day venue needs for the Elgood Theatre and Bower Theatre in partnership with FIM Operations. 
• Serve as Flint Rep’s primary liaison with FIM Marketing, coordinating production information, timelines, artistic materials, and promotional needs while ensuring that marketing accurately reflects Flint Rep’s artistic vision. 
• Support producing-related contracting, budgeting, scheduling, and administrative processes, working in collaboration with the Producing Artistic Director, FIM Finance, Operations, and other institutional departments. 
• Provide leadership and coordination for contractors and project-based staff, fostering a collaborative, respectful, and artist-centered working environment. 
• Represent Flint Rep professionally with artists, creative collaborators, FIM colleagues, community partners, donors, and audiences, and participate in organizational, production, and planning meetings as needed. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

• Advanced degree in theatre, directing, producing, arts administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent senior-level professional experience in artistic leadership. 
• Significant experience in theatre or event producing, artistic operations, or related work. 
• Strong understanding of professional theatre production processes. 
• Familiarity with artist contracts, union procedures, casting practices, and theatrical production timelines preferred. 
• Experience producing readings, workshops, festivals, special events, or new work development preferred. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Strong organizational, project-management, and creative problem-solving skills. 
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with artists, staff, contractors, leadership, and community partners. 
• Ability to maintain a calm, positive, and flexible manner under pressure. 
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database or project-management tools. 
• Ability to work flexible hours reflective of a theatre schedule, including evenings and weekends. 
• Express a passion for theatre, artists, new work, and Flint Rep’s mission. 

Compensation and Benefits: 

• Pay Rate: $47.000 – $52,000 per year 
• Full Time Position, Exempt 
• Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance  
• 401k Eligible
