The FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for the following tenure-track positions: 

PRINCIPAL TUBA 

SECOND FLUTE 

SECTION VIOLIN – 6 openings 

SECTION BASS – 2 openings 

Auditions will be held Sunday, October 4 and Monday, October 5, 2026.

About the FSO 

The FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra is a professional, per-service, union orchestra made up of 76 contracted musicians performing under the baton of Maestro Enrique Diemecke, Music Director and Conductor. A typical FSO season includes six classical concerts, Halloween Pops, Holiday Pops, two Nutcracker performances, live-to-picture concert, a spring pops concert and more. Our main performance venue is the James H Whiting Auditorium in Flint, Michigan. 

Under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra section player per-service rate is $121.19, and the principal player per-service rate is $145.19.  Travel compensation is paid to any musician traveling 20 miles or more each way.  Cartage is paid for tuba and bass. Reduced price instrument insurance is available.
