Tara Gragg is honored to return to her dancing roots at FIM Flint School of Performing Arts as the new dance department chair. Gragg was born in Flint and began her dance training at FSPA when she was four. She participated every year in The Nutcracker and Flint Youth Ballet until graduating high school and attending the University of Oklahoma to receive a BFA in ballet.

She performed professionally with numerous companies before returning to Flint and joining FSPA’s dance faculty in 2022, directing the Children’s Performance Workshop, Youth Dance Ensemble and Adult Ballet Ensemble. She is honored to share her love of dance with the FIM community as dance department chair, following her long-time mentor Karen Mills Jennings’ retirement.

“I am excited to carry forward Karen’s legacy while bringing some of my own connections from the wider dance world into the FSPA fold to work with our students,” expressed Gragg. “The community school for the arts model at FSPA is one I am deeply invested in. I believe everyone can benefit from training in the classical arts, no matter their background, ability or professional aspirations.”
