Pia Broden Williams is a classical soprano and versatile performer based in metro Detroit. Her voice has been described as “enchanting” and possessing a “sheer beauty of sound.” Throughout her career, Williams has distinguished herself as a gifted musician, performing with opera companies, orchestras, musical theatre productions, and jazz and gospel ensembles both nationally and internationally.

Williams made her international debut in Limonest, France, performing excerpts from West Side Story and Candide by Bernstein, as well as Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 with the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Limonest. In Austria, she delighted audiences with her performance of Olympia’s celebrated “Doll Song” from The Tales of Hoffmann and was a semifinalist in the International Meistersinger Vocal Competition. Her operatic repertoire includes the roles of Olympia, Adina (cover), Serpina, Laetitia, and Lauretta. She has appeared with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theater, Bel Cantanti, and Regina Opera.
Beyond the classical stage, Williams has performed in the musical theatre productions Ain’t Misbehavin’ and The All Night Strut. A passionate advocate for America’s musical traditions, she has spent many years as a featured vocalist with 1930s and 1940s-style big bands and has performed with jazz ensembles throughout the United States and abroad.

Williams especially enjoys collaborating with the outstanding musicians of southeastern Michigan’s vibrant music community. She currently performs with several metro Detroit jazz ensembles, including The Birdland Babes, RPM Jazz Trio, Stardusters Big Band, Canja de Boa, and the North Oakland Dixieland Band.
An accomplished voice teacher and coach, Williams takes great pride in the success of her students, many of whom have gone on to pursue professional careers in music. She previously served on the voice faculty of the Flint School of Performing Arts for fifteen years and is delighted to return in 2026. Her teaching experience also includes serving as a graduate assistant in voice at Michigan State University and teaching choir and voice classes at Mott Middle College.
