Norman Wika
Dr. Norman Wika currently serves as a Professor of Music, and Chair of the Music Department at Saginaw Valley State University, where he teaches classes in music education and music history. He is an active conductor in the region, holding conducting positions with the Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Saginaw Bay Youth Orchestra, and the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band.
Dr. Wika holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Connecticut. He also holds a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Miami. Prior to his position at SVSU, Dr. Wika served on the faculty of Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK, and Providence College, Providence, RI.
Dr. Wika lives in Saginaw with his wife Tiffany, an elementary music teacher, his daughter Hannah, a budding violinist, and his cat and dog. He enjoys cooking on the Blackstone and building LEGO.
