Laurie DiSabatino
Laurie DiSabatino, soprano, graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in music where she received both voice and piano scholarships. During college, she toured throughout central Europe as a soloist and chamber group singer. As a featured soloist at CMU, she performed Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Honneger’s King David, and the lead role of Sara Brown in the University’s production of Guys and Dolls. She was the winner of CMU’s concerto competition, performing arias from Donizetti’s Anna Bolena with the university’s orchestra. Laurie also won the Cedric C. Colness Vocal Competition. After graduation, DiSabatino moved to Philadelphia to perform with the Little Lyric Opera Theatre where she debuted as Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme. Since returning to Flint, she has performed locally with many organizations including the St. Cecilia Society, Flint Symphony Chorus, Carolyn Mawby Chorale, New Century Chorale, and as a soloist in numerous Messiah Performances. Laurie has also performed in multiple Michigan Opera Theatre productions including Verdi’s Nabucco, Puccini’s La Boheme, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, and Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci. Currently, she teaches voice at FIM’s Flint School of Performing Arts and serves as the Music Director at Kirkridge Presbyterian Church in Grand Blanc.
