Corissa Knecht
Corissa Knecht is a violin and viola instructor and active freelance artist. She has performed with the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Flint Symphony Orchestra, Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, and Michigan Philharmonic. Her performances have been lauded for their drive and expression.
In her work with the Flint School of Performing Arts, she teaches the Introduction to Strings class, serves as Violin Coach for the Philharmonia, and Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as maintaining a private studio. Corissa also works as an Administrative Coordinator in the FSPA office.
Corissa is trained in Suzuki and Kaleidoscopes pedagogies. She incorporates body mapping and performance psychology into all of her lessons.
Her work with the American Viola Society Underrepresented Composers Database has led her to search for ways to broaden the reach of classical music in a way that respects and represents a broad spectrum of cultures and traditions.
Corissa holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Arizona, where she studied with Dr. Molly Gebrian.
