Bill Makela is a guitar instructor at FIM Flint School of Performing Arts with over 10 years of experience teaching guitar lessons and classes. He has a performance degree from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA where he studied under jazz guitarists Joe Diorio, Norman Brown and Classical guitarist David Oakes. Bill has dedicated his career to teaching and performing. He has played in several big bands as a jazz guitarist as well as performing classical guitar, blues, rock and bluegrass. He currently plays tenor banjo in a New Orleans Jazz Band.

Along the way, Bill has met and performed with many notable musicians and been part of productions that have made him a well-rounded musician and teacher able to instruct many styles and genres. Along with guitar, Bill also teaches Ukulele and Tenor 4 sting banjo. Bill hopes to set his students on a path that leads to exploration and inspiration by giving focused lessons that meet one’s interests and goals. He believes that music can be a powerful stepping stone for one to realize their full potential, no matter what they pursue in life.
