Music Lesson Merit Scholarships*

Students seeking a Music Lesson Merit Scholarship are required to:

1. Be a current FSPA student registered in a full nine-week term of music lessons and have completed the previous full term of FSPA music lessons. Applicants may audition only on the instrument they study at FSPA.

1. Complete and return the application to the FSPA Office or email the application to djkassel@thefim.org.
2. Applications must be submitted by the applicant or family member. Applications submitted by an instructor will not be accepted.

4. Applicants must complete an audition consisting of a prepared portion of a solo. If you have previously performed a piece that was awarded a scholarship, you must select a new piece. Your audition starts once you walk into the audition room and have been introduced to the adjudicators. The adjudicators may interrupt your piece at any point in time.

1. Vocalists Only: If you would like an accompanist, and you don’t already have one, please contact the FPSA office. You may apply for assistance in paying for an accompanist if needed through the Fund for Student Needs.
2. Scholarship awards are determined solely by the adjudicators at the time of the audition. Summer Awards range from $50 – $300. Semester 1/Semester 2 awards range from $100 – $750.

2025 Fall Marcia W. Dort String Scholarship Audition Application Form

Dance Merit Scholarships*

Merit Scholarships are available for dancers registered in the full curriculum for intermediate II-Advanced II and will participate in Flint Youth Ballet. The audition for the Merit Scholarships for dance takes place during the Nutcracker audition each fall.

Theatre Merit Scholarships*

Students seeking a Theatre Merit Scholarship are required to:

1. Be a current FSPA student registered in a full term or semester of FSPA Theatre Classes and have completed the previous full term of FSPA Theatre Classes.
2. Complete and return the application to the FSPA Office or email the application to djkassel@thefim.org.
3. Applications must be submitted by the applicant or family member. Applications submitted by an instructor will not be accepted.
4. Applicants must complete an audition consisting of a prepared and memorized monologue from a published play between one and two minutes in length. If you have previously performed a monologue that was awarded a scholarship, you must select a new monologue.  Your audition starts once you walk into the audition room and have been introduced to the adjudicators. The adjudicators may interrupt your monologue at any point in time.
5. Scholarship awards are determined solely by the adjudicators at the time of the audition. Awards range from 60% – 80% of tuition.

*If you are applying for more than one form of FSPA aid (scholarships, tuition assistance), the total of all awards will be adjusted to equal no more than the total tuition and registration cost for the indicated time period.
