Flint Rep Makes Big Waves this Season with Unique Giving Campaign
In September, FIM Flint Repertory Theatre launched its Annual Fund Campaign to support its continued mission of providing highly imaginative, thought-provoking theatre that is challenging, entertaining and inspiring for everyone.
The inspiration for this unique campaign was the innovative and original theatre that Flint Rep is widely recognized for. Local street artist Charles Boike was commissioned to create a 7.5 x 16-foot mural inspired by work done in past seasons. Made up of 264 8×8 canvases, each gift of $250 or more will add another piece to the completion of the mural displayed in the Elgood Theatre lobby. By the end of the campaign (with a fundraising goal of $80,000), the individual mural canvases will be gifted to each donor to keep as an original piece of art.
“Flint Rep has received incredible support since our first season six years ago. We are thrilled to be working with Flint artist Charles Boike as we launch our first annual giving campaign,” said Nicole Samsel, managing director at Flint Rep.
“I look forward to sharing this beautiful mural and our vision for continuing to grow the mission of Flint Rep with our community over the coming months.”
In addition to the Annual Fund Campaign, springtime will bring a Sing-Along fundraising event to Flint Rep, scheduled for April 25, 2025 at Elgood Theatre. “Although still in its planning phase, this fundraising and community-building event will give attendees an opportunity to sing together – like karaoke meets dueling pianos meets a cabaret,” explained Samsel.
Finally, the Season Wrap Party will celebrate the end of the season and the mural campaign. This exclusive event is for donors (be sure to participate if you would like an invitation!).
Kay Lillie, fundraising committee member, explained that supporting Flint Rep goes beyond backing its innovative, high-quality productions.
“Whether it is presenting a ‘reworked’ classic with a twist, an entirely new production from scratch or venturing into the community, Flint Rep does something very special … it engages the audience, provokes thought, expands horizons and encourages discussion of issues both local and worldwide,” said Lillie.
“We are very fortunate to have such high-quality theatre here in our own backyard.”
