Janet Haley
Janet Haley (Martha) is an Associate Professor of Theatre at UM-Flint, specializing in physical approaches to actor training and directing, ensemble theatre-making, and directs mainstage productions annually. She is an Associate Artist with Flint Rep, with stage credits: The Mute in Fantasticks, Nurse Ratched in …Cuckoo’s Nest, Beatrice in The Effect of Gamma Rays…, Winnie in Happy Days, Amanda in Glass Menagerie, and White Witch in Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe; directed 5 plays for Flint Mural Plays audio play project; directed staged readings in 2 New Works Festivals. Former Artistic Associate with Michigan Shakespeare Festival: 14 seasons playing over 35 roles in classical theatre that could be titled “Mothers, Magicians, Maids, Madwomen.” She’s also performed with Williamston Theatre, Nicely Theatre, Seattle Public Theatre, Book-It Rep in Seattle, Harlequin in Olympia WA, Idaho Rep, Idaho Theatre for Youth, Boise Contemporary Theatre, Vortex in Austin, Performance Network, Flint Youth Theatre, and Cornerstone Theater in Los Angeles. Site-specific theatre with community pieces include Restoration of Spirit: The Glenwood Cemetery Project, and 9x Nourished at the Flint Farmers’ Market (script: Michael Rohd). She’s trained in Viewpoints/Suzuki with SITI Company of NYC for the past 18 years; Pacific Performance Project/East; Peter Kyle Dance/NYC. Holds 6 Wilde Awards (Acting).
