Kenn Hopkins Jr. (Slow Drag) (he/him) is an Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) member and he’s happiest when he’s learning, teaching, and turning big ideas into something you can feel. Kenn’s previous credits include Macbeth, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Julius Caesar, Pride and Prejudice, and A Christmas Carol (American Shakespeare Center); Akeelah and The Bee (Flint Youth Theatre), The Merchant of Venice (Houston Shakespeare Festival), and appeared with Colonial Williamsburg as James Armistead in The Hated Spy, including film/TV work on Stop the Threat (various episodes). But what might be closest to his heart is education; he teaches middle school ELA. He brings that same energy into everything he makes: building stories, encouraging curiosity, and helping students see themselves in the literature. When he’s not rehearsing or teaching, Kenn stays busy making hip hop, playing upright bass, and showing up with blactivism. And yes, he’s got serious love for Flint, Michigan; where community, resilience, and creativity aren’t just concepts, they’re daily life. Kenn earned his BFA from the University of Michigan and his MFA from the University of Houston, and he’s grateful to be here: ready to share this show with you, and ready to keep building new stories long after the curtain.
