We are excited to announce that major renovations will begin on Bower Theatre this spring! This long-awaited project will repair damage from the 2022 flooding and transform the traditional proscenium stage and auditorium into a multipurpose space for all varieties of new, innovative performances.

However, construction will significantly limit the use of the building, including Elgood Theatre. To ensure the Bower Theatre project is complete in time for Flint Rep’s 2026-2027 Season, we will begin construction immediately. Consequently, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Flint Rep’s New Works Festival and the production of Carrie: The Musical.

Rest assured, there will be a Flint Rep 2025-26 Season, but it will not be at Elgood Theatre. Stay tuned for the exciting season announcement on May 19 to learn more about how the Flint Rep will continue their innovative and groundbreaking work next year.

In the meantime, we hope you will join us for the last Flint Rep production this season, A Driving Beat, running March 14 – 30 at Elgood Theatre. This world premiere is a perfect example of the culturally rich theatre Flint Rep is proud to represent.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or Nicole Samsel (nsamsel@thefim.org or 810.237.2522) with any questions or concerns about changes to the current season.

Sincerely,

Rodney Lontine

P.S. The Flint Rep season may be shorter than expected, but the Annual Fundraising Campaign will be active until May 31! If you haven’t had a chance to make a gift and claim your piece of the beautiful mural in the Elgood Theatre Lobby, there is still time.
