Haden Plouffe
Haden Plouffe, a Flint, MI-based pianist, composer, and musicologist. They hold a double Bachelor’s in piano performance and composition from Western Michigan University, followed by a Master’s in Musicology. Haden studied with Lori Sims, Dr. Yu-Lien The, Dr. Genadi Zagor (piano), Dr. Lisa Coons, and Dr. Christopher Biggs (composition).
Renowned for emotive performances, Haden focuses on underrepresented repertoire in Western Art Music, embracing works by Leo Ornstein, William Grant Still, Lili Boulanger, and Olly Wilson. Memorable performances include featuring as a harpsichord soloist in Iannis Xenakis’s À l’île de Gorée with WMU’s contemporary ensemble, Birds on a Wire, and playing piano in Olly Wilson’s A City Called Heaven. They also participated in Slava Ukraini!, a charity benefit that raised $5,000.
Haden is an accomplished composer, premiering works with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s Artist-in-Residence ensemble and a significant composition at a Kalamazoo Pride event.
