Maestro Diemecke Welcomes Friend and Special Guest Pianist Jorge Federico Osorio to FSO Opening
Maestro Enrique Diemecke looks forward to his 35th season as music director of FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra.
“This season, we are performing music from around the world, focusing on the culture and traditions of various regions,” says Diemecke.
The opening program on October 14 includes German composer Johannes Brahms and his Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15, featuring Jorge Federico Osorio as guest pianist. The program also includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, C minor op. 67.
“I’m especially excited to have our guest artist, Jorge Federico Osorio,” says Diemecke. “He is one of the greatest pianists that came out of the great tradition of musicians in Mexico. It’s an honor to have him perform with FSO.”
Osorio, like Maestro Diemecke, is the recipient of the prestigious Medalla Bellas Artes, the highest honor granted by Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts.
Osorio says he is just as excited to visit Flint and perform with FSO.
“Maestro Diemecke and I go back a long way. We met when we were kids. We have had wonderful experiences in Mexico and in many other places across the globe. Working with Enrique is always special because he is such a marvelous musician, and I’m looking forward to performing with FSO as well.”
The concert will be Osorio’s first trip to Flint, and he says it’s a concert not to be missed.
“Brahms Piano Concerto is one of my favorite pieces of music.”
The Piano Concerto was Brahms first performed orchestral work, reflecting his effort to combine the piano with the orchestra as equal parts.
“My hope is patrons come and listen to something special. I know the music will move them and elevate them.”
Maestro Diemecke agrees.
“Jorge performs with some of the best symphony orchestras in the world with great acclaim. It’s an honor to have him perform this magnificent piece of music with us.”
The season-opening concert also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor. It was written between 1804 and 1808 and is one of the best-known compositions in classical music and the most frequently played by symphonies.
Maestro Diemecke hopes audiences consider spending an evening experiencing FSO’s exciting concerts
this season.
“I extend an invitation to everyone. It promises to be a memorable season.”
