The audition committee reserves the right to immediately dismiss any candidate that does not meet the desired standard of performance. Employment to begin immediately pending the winners’ availability and orchestra’s need. We may add to our supplemental musician list based on these auditions. Audition candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

About the FSO
The FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra is a professional, per-service, union orchestra made up of 76 contracted musicians performing under the baton of Maestro Enrique Diemecke, Music Director and Conductor. The FIM FSO performs 1-2 concerts per month on average. A typical FSO season includes six classical concerts, a Holiday Pops concert, Nutcracker performances with dancers from the FIM Flint School of Performing Arts, a music to picture concert and/or pops concert and more. Our main performance venue is at the James H Whiting Auditorium.
Under the existing contract, the FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra section player per-service rate is $98.15, and the principal player per-service rate is $114.00. For musicians traveling from Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing/East Lansing and further shall receive a travel allowance of $20.00 per service. These rates are subject to change as the FSO is currently undergoing contract negotiations.
