Flint Rep’s Ghost Light Cabaret Illuminates a Unique Performance Experience
Flint Rep’s Ghost Light Cabaret Illuminates a Unique Performance Experience
A ghost light is a single lightbulb left on when a theatre is unoccupied, usually placed in the middle of a stage. Practically speaking, it’s a safety precaution, so that whoever is first to enter the theatre can navigate to turn the main lights on. But theatre is steeped in tradition and superstition — the ghost light is known to either keep theatre-dwelling ghosts appeased or scare them away, depending on who you ask.
20 Questions with Flint Rep Interim Artistic Director Nicole Samsel
In February, we held a special reception at Elgood Theatre to officially welcome Nicole Samsel to the creative helm of the Flint Repertory Theatre as its Interim Artistic Director. Nicole isn’t new to FIM – this is her fourth season with Flint Rep – but folks had an opportunity to chat with her at the event to get to know her and better understand her vision for the theatre in coming months.
Innovation Onstage and Beyond
“Innovation” has long been one of Flint Repertory Theatre’s defining characteristics, and this season, that spirit of experimentation has extended well beyond the traditional stage. From new touring models to unexpected collaborations and bold thematic choices, Flint Rep continues to evolve while keeping its community and educational mission firmly at the forefront.
