The year was 1975 and music charts were topped by the likes of Elton John, Frankie Valli and Earth, Wind & Fire. It was also the year the Miami Latin Boys was established by Emilio Estefan, Jr. In 1977, the group re-branded to become Miami Sound Machine, the beloved Latin-influenced American band featuring vocals by Gloria Estefan.
Known for their vocals, lyrics, funky guitar stylings and upbeat conga drums, Miami Sound Machine was internationally successful in the 1980s and beyond. In 1989, they won a Grammy for their song “Anything for You.” On Your Feet! is a musical that tells the inspiring true story about heart, heritage and two people who believed in their talent—and each other—to become an international sensation: Emilio and Gloria Estefan.

The jukebox-style musical celebrates their illustrious career and celebrates their love story through some of the most iconic hits from the past quarter century, including “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “Don’t Want to Lose You Now,” and the titular “Get on your Feet.”

“This is a show where you won’t be able to help dancing in your seat while watching, even if you aren’t familiar with the music,” says FIM Director of Programming Ella McAndrew. “Come see the incredible life story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan and really let the rhythm get you.”

Get On Your Feet! with Gloria and Emilio on March 12 and 13, 7:30 p.m. at FIM Whiting Auditorium. Tickets are currently available at tickets.thefim.org, by calling (810) 237-7333 or at FIM Ticket Center box office locations at FIM Whiting Auditorium and FIM Capitol Theatre.
