The annual FIM Wine Dinner fundraiser – A Journey Through the Pacific Northwest – returns to FIM Dort Music Center Nov. 10 with a champagne reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7. Proceeds benefit the Music Around Town program.

Patrons enjoy a five-course meal in an intimate setting prepared by executive chef Nicholas Neff of Bon Vivant Dining. The six wines are hand-picked by local sommelier, Michael Cregar, owner of Woodberry Wine. Participants will leave full of outstanding food and drink, as well as the satisfaction of supporting a truly valuable community enrichment opportunity.

The long-standing Music Around Town, is now a year-round program helps Flint with musicians performing throughout the community giving free to low-cost concerts. Formerly known as Music in the Parks, MAT offers music of all kinds in public parks and other venues around the greater Flint area. FIM strives to have something for everyone as part of its commitment to bring the performing arts to life for all of Flint and beyond. Music Around Town also includes pop-up performances exclusively for frontline workers. This started during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be a favorite for the musicians.

The FIM Wine Dinner fundraiser debuted in 2006. Over the years it has raised $149,500 for various FIM programs.

Wine Dinner Chairperson Carolyn Stubbs got involved with the wine dinner event after working on the FIM auction committee. This is Stubbs’ third year as chairperson, but she has been involved with the event since 2006.

“The auction committee members I was working with had the idea to do a wine dinner at FIM, so we got together, developed the idea, and it’s been going ever since,” she says. “I like how we always get to try interesting wines and work with wonderful chefs from the area. It’s great to highlight Michael Creger as well since Woodberry Wine is also local. Plus, it’s just fun!”
