Flint Under the Stars: Country – Alex Schofield with special guest Cainaen McGhee

7:00 PM
Location:  Capitol Theatre

FIM presents

Alex Schofield is a Saginaw County native who is now based in Nashville whose gritty, hard-edged heartland sound blends soulful storytelling with blue-collar Midwestern roots. His music resonates with fans who crave both honesty and energy, making him a memorable act on any stage.

Schofield’s path has been fueled by relentless drive—from a 28-state solo van tour that cemented his place as a rising voice, to opening for legendary artists like Travis Tritt, Chris Cagle, Drake White, and Kin Faux. In 2022, he signed his first publishing deal with Morgan Music Group under CMA award-winning songwriter Dennis Morgan, and his songs have reached more than 50,000 listeners through features on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist.

Back home, Schofield’s connection with his audience is undeniable. For three years, he’s hosted a hometown show in St. Charles, MI, drawing over 800 loyal fans and supported by more than two dozen sponsors. On stage, his easy-going, relatable personality shines as much as his gritty delivery, building a bond with listeners that lasts long after the last note.

With recent releases like the anthemic “’Til The Wheels Fall Off” and the heartfelt “People Need People,” Schofield showcases both the grit and honesty that define his artistry. Now based in Nashville, he continues to write, collaborate, and push his boundaries as an artist—channeling influences like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Bob Seger, and Eric Church while forging a voice that is unmistakably his own.

Cainaen McGhee grew up in Durand, just west of Flint Township. Performing since age 15, he honed his craft in local venues, talent shows, and online. In 2025, he joined the Flint Institute of Music as a Performing Artist and now holds residencies at several downtown Flint spots.

Blending influence from multiple genres and generations, Cainaen’s mix of originals and covers feels both familiar and fresh—ranging from driving, forward-looking songs to reflective ballads.

He’s collaborated with notable Hip-Hop and R&B artists including Jon Connor, Nikell Johnson, Jeff Skigh, and Jada Ali, earning recognition in Flint’s vibrant music scene.

With heartfelt originals and a thoughtful repertoire of covers, Cainaen offers an authentic alternative to the overproduced sounds of today. This isn’t just acoustic music—it’s Michigan’s own, Cainaen McGhee.

Flint Under the Stars is a concert series that spotlights local talent, held on the third Wednesday of each month under the starry dome of the FIM Capitol Theatre.
