Voice Instructor
About the Opportunity
The FIM Flint School of Performing Arts (FSPA) is looking for a driven, dedicated, and enthusiastic Voice Instructor. Under the direction of the Voice Department Chair, the Voice Instructor provides instruction and coaching for all ages from beginning through advanced levels.
Instruction and Mentorship
- Guide students using a variety of teaching methods and materials that foster growth and creative exploration.
- Provide expert music instruction, including demonstration during lessons.
- Ensure students are performance-ready and understand the process of translating practice work into a public presentation.
- Establish a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion.
Administrative
- Manage logistics, including but not limited to: communication with FSPA office staff, lesson scheduling, registration, and regular communication with students and families.
- Adhere to all FIM policies and procedures set forth.
Community Building
- Foster an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports risk-taking, mutual respect, and creative expression.
- Support outreach and communication efforts to help raise awareness, engage new participants, and connect the work of the Flint School of Performing Arts to the broader community.
- Model curiosity, openness, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the field and related teaching experience preferred
- Experience teaching diverse styles of music preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills
