Music Therapist
About the Opportunity
The FIM Flint School of Performing Arts Music Therapy is growing! We have an immediate opening for a full-time, salaried music therapist. This position is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, HSA, 401(k) with match, PTO, paid holidays and funds for continuing education. We are part of a community-based arts organization with a long history in the Flint community. Clients attend sessions in our spacious treatment rooms at the Flint School of Performing Arts, in addition to our individual and group sessions at area schools and health organizations. The MT-BC will have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients and shape the position to their interests.
Specific Responsibilities
- Comply with American Music Therapy Association Code of Ethics and maintain Board Certification.
- Complete clinical documentation for each client including: attendance, assessment, treatment, and weekly session forms in a timely fashion.
- Develop and/or Administer the music therapy programs as set forth by the Department Chair.
- Be punctual and maintain regular attendance for scheduled sessions and administrative work. Contact FSPA Director in advance of absence.
- Work closely in cooperation with department chairs, administration, staff and faculty colleagues.
- Assist students in arranging performance opportunities as applicable.
- Keep a personal make-up policy on file in FSPA Office.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain an effective rapport with clients, students, parents, staff and visitors (i.e. greet people in always).
- Complete and return client list on or before the deadline each term.
- Recommend and/or assist with maintenance requirements of FSPA owned instruments.
- Work effectively with clients and students at varied levels of ability and with varied goals.
- Be an effective role model and represent the school for clients, students, and parents in a positive manner.
- Attend meetings as requested
- Check In on arrival each teaching day. Wear FSPA lanyard.
- Provide services only to clients whose accounts are current and are registered and paid. Complete daily teaching report.
- Respond to service requests or referrals in a timely fashion and keep FSPA Office informed of status.
- Answer messages from clients, parents, students and staff in a timely fashion.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field. (Music Therapy or Music Therapy equivalency)
- MT-BC (Music Therapist-Board Certified)
- Or proof of scheduled test date within 3 months of application
- Complies with rules and regulations of the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
- Maintains MT-BC status by completing 100 hours of continuing music therapy education credits or taking the Board Certification Examination, once every 5 years.
- Previous experience working with a variety of clients in both individual and group sessions
- Experience in schedule coordination, invoicing, grant writing, and outreach is preferred.Compensation and Benefit Information
