FSPA Program Coordinator

About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the VP of the Flint School of Performing Arts, the FSPA Program Coordinator will maintain and increase the positive impact and artistic quality of a range of FSPA programs, including major performances and community engagement programs. The individual will work very closely with both the FIM Community Outreach Coordinator and FIM Education Outreach Coordinator as well.


  • Coordinate FSPA performances and programs. 
  • In collaboration with the FIM Education Outreach Coordinator and FIM Community Outreach Coordinator, coordinate the FSPA Community Engagement programs. 

    •  Includes Senior and k-12 programs. 

  • Meet periodically with community partners to monitor status of program, including logic model,  evaluation plan and participant retention. Collect and submit data for grant requests and reports.
  • Track student transition from community engagement programs to lessons/classes/ensembles at  FSPA. Submit data for grant requests and reports.
  • In collaboration with the VP of the FSPA and community partners, set annual goals.
  • Supervise Community Engagement program faculty and complete evaluations bi-annually.
  • In collaboration with the VP of the FSPA, assist in seeking personnel for hire.
  • Mentor first year instructors in administrative and instructional work through regular meetings  and periodic observations.

    • Assess ongoing professional development needs for faculty and make recommendations  to the VP of the FSPA.

  • Attend meetings, interviews and events, as requested.
  • Respond to inquiries from parents, students, staff and community partners within two business  days.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of new and existing community engagement  programs, activities and curriculum.
  • In case of snow day or other school closure, inform all instructors in the department per school policy.
  • Other duties as requested.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, preferred.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of individuals.
  • Two years’ concert coordination/production experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of community arts education programs, community partnership programs, current teaching approaches, curriculum, preferred.
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Display a self-motivated and positive attitude.
  •  Demonstrate the ability to maintain and be responsible with confidential and sensitive information.

Compensation and Benefit Information:

  • Full time Benefit Eligible Position 35+ hours per week
