This innovative, multicultural program brings a whole new world of fun, music and discovery right to your school. Designed for elementary-aged children, the Troubadours lead students on a fun and educational journey through space and time. Along the way they explore different cultures through music and movement.

Students even get into the act, playing along on traditional African instruments, singing new songs and moving to familiar classical, folk, pop and ethnic music.

Who are the Troubadours?

The Troubadours consist of four musicians from the Flint Institute of Music and an actor/storyteller.

How does the program work?

A visit to your school would include two programs, each one-half hour in length, age appropriate for lower and upper elementary students. Both programs are presented “in the round” in the school gymnasiums with the ensemble located in the center.

The goal of the program is to help students discover what different cultures have in common. They are also encouraged to use their imaginations and develop their creativity in a fun and interactive setting

Each year a new program is developed, with thought-provoking, yet fun subject matter.

Follow - up

After the program, students are encouraged to respond to the Troubadours with drawings and letters. In addition, a survey is sent to each school requesting staff to provide an evaluation of the Troubadours presentation.
