Since 2001 this week long tap dance festival has been the place for students and tap lovers to learn solid tap dance technique, explore the historical roots of this American art form and show appreciation for those who forged the trail, while creating programs to help youth develop confidence, work ethic and talent!

The Tap Festival is open to the public and includes workshops for beginner through advanced dancers of tap, hip hop, African, and step on Friday October 25 to Sunday October 27. Visitors will enjoy performances by some of the world's best tap dancers, a tap dance competition worth $1,000 in cash prizes, presentation by historian C. Daniel Dawson, and the Tapology Living Legend Luncheon. The 2013 Tapology Living Legend is Chester Whitmore; a unique Dancer, composer, comedian, actor, choreographer, stuntman, and bandleader who combines his talents to create surprising performances.

The Tapology Festival takes place at the Flint Institute of Music and throughout the Flint Cultural Center, ending in Concert on October 27th at 7pm at The Whiting featuring Chester Whitmore, Dianne "Lady Di" Walker, Cartier "Big Coop" Williams, Flint's own Bradley Family and the Tapology Youth Ensemble.
