Where better to make your dance dreams come alive than at the FSPA’s Dance Division? For over 30 years, Dance Division has offered students of all ages and abilities a variety of dance and performance opportunities. Classes range from Preschool Creative
Dance (ages 4-6), to Modern Dance, Youth Ballet, Adult Ballet,
Ballroom and Hip Hop. The FSPA Dance Division also offers one of
the few comprehensive curricula in the Russian Ballet Technique in
the area.
Headed by Karen Mills Jennings, the Dance Division offers more
than 25 classes each week, as well as a regular performance
schedule. Former students of the division have received scholarships
at such prominent schools as the San Francisco Ballet School,
North Carolina School of the Arts, Joffrey School in New York
City, the Virginia School of the Arts, as well as numerous summer
ballet programs throughout the United States and Canada. Some
have also gone on to dance professionally with Ballet Michigan,
Tulsa Ballet Theatre, Dayton Ballet, Cleveland Ballet, Indianapolis
Ballet Theatre, Oakland Ballet, Fort Worth Ballet and the Repertory
Project.
The Nutcracker production is the most widely known performance
venue for the Dance Division. Nearly 100 students have the
opportunity to perform with professional dancers before a total
audience of 5,000 at The Whiting.
